Description

I am licensed as a psychologist in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey; and board certified as both a clinical neuropsychologist and vocational expert with the American Board of Professional Neuropsychology and the American Board of Vocational Experts. I provide for comprehensive neuropsychological and vocational evaluations for individuals (children, adolescents, adults) presenting with various forms of learning disabilities, developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, memory loss, cognitive impairment, concussions, attention problems, acquired brain injuries, competency issues and dementia. when performing a neuropsychological evaluation, these evaluations are focused on identifying areas of neurocognitive strength and weakness. Focus is not only on the degree or nature of the impairment that the individual presents with, but also how this impacts the individual’s activities of daily living. This includes the ability to return to school or work; and also the individual’s ability to function at home or within the community independently. Individuals undergoing a neuropsychological evaluation consequential to a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) are often times in need of an expert opinion based upon the findings from the evaluation. The results from the neuropsychological evaluation are instrumental in helping to put into proper perspective the individual's current level of neurocognitive and neurobehavioral functioning when contrasted with prior levels of performance. If called upon to proffer an opinion in relation to ongoing litigation, the facts associated with the individual’s current neuropsychological functioning will be established based upon the results from the neuropsychological evaluative data obtained through the administration of a neuropsychological evaluation, along with the information provided for review (medical, educational, psychological and vocational histories). The opinion provided is unbiased, based upon neuropsychological judgment and is reflective of the results obtained from the neuropsychological evaluation in respect to the individual's reported history and thorough record review. An interpretation of the facts relating cause and effect relationships with the data and information provided assists in forming the basis for the testimony related to each case. Professional standards within the area of neuropsychological assessment are defined and maintained in the rendering of an opinion. This is based upon the development of a thorough understanding of both the strengths and weaknesses identified with regard to the individual as well as the available background history that is provided. Opinions are communicated in a matter that is meant to educate, not to overwhelm in technical excess. When Vocational concerns are presented, where the individual is reported to be unable to resume prior forms of employment, this is also thoroughly examined through that if a vocational evaluation and detailed history. Alternative areas of employment will be examined in light of the presenting history from the individual and that of a review of detailed medical records, educational history and work related histories. If individuals are unable to resume prior forms of employment, potential alternative areas of employment are also explored with determinations made based upon the vocational evaluation of the individual, along with a review of educational, vocational and medical histories. Vocational testing supplements this information in determining skills and abilities that the individual possesses, which may be supportive in the pursuit of alternative areas of vocational pursuit. Opinions are provided based upon that of a vocational determination. This at times is also supported by an understanding of the psychological and neuropsychological factors that may be factoring into the individual's ability to return to work.
