I am a neurointensivist in active clinical practice at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Torrance, CA and am board-certified in both Neurocritical Care and Adult Neurology through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and also in Neurocritical Care through the United Council of Neurologic Subspecialties. In my practice I provide comprehensive neurological and critical care services to patients with acute brain, spinal cord, and/or nerve injury, and have extensive experience in the management of disorders such as acute ischemic stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracerebral hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, hypoxic-ischemic (anoxic) brain injury, encephalopathy, status epilepticus, neurotoxicology, Guillain-Barre syndrome, myasthenic crisis, meningitis, encephalitis, and perioperative complications of neurosurgical procedures. I completed my undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis and graduated summa cum laude with an AB in Biology and Anthropology in 2004. From 2004-2008 I completed my medical training and MD degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, and from 2005-2008 also concurrently completed an Master's degree (MS) in Applied Anatomy. After graduation from medical school I completed an internship in Internal Medicine from 2008-2009 and residency in Neurology from 2009-2012 at New York-Presbyterian Hospital - Columbia. I subsequently completed a fellowship in Neurocritical Care from 2012-2014 at New York-Presbyterian Hospital - Columbia and Cornell. In 2022 I completed a Master's Degree in Health Professions Education (MHPE) at Maastricht University, and was named a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology (FAAN). I hold an academic appointment as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, and previously served there as Assistant Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery from 2014-2021, during which time I also provided clinical neurocritical care services at NYU Langone Health - Tisch Hospital. While there I also served in education leadership, running the neuroscience/neurology course for medical students at the top-ranked NYU Grossman School of Medicine. I have won several awards for teaching, with awards at NYU including Special Recognition for Teaching Excellence, Excellence in Education Innovation, and the Distinguished Teacher Award in the Basic Sciences. I have also been recognized nationally for my teaching efforts, with the A.B. Baker Teacher Recognition Award. With my clinical expertise and acumen, as well as my extensive teaching experience, I have a unique ability to explain complex neurological conditions to those of all educational backgrounds and experiences. In additional to work at my primary institutions, I am an active member and Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology, and a member of the Neurocritical Care Society, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the American Medical Association. I have previously served on the national Education Committee for the American Academy of Neurology, and currently serve on their Regional Conference Subcommittee and as part of their delegation to the American Medical Association's House of Delegates. I also serve on the Undergraduate Education Committee for the Society of Critical Care Medicine and have worked on the Emergency Neurological Life Support curriculum, through the Neurocritical Care Society.
