Description
Dr. Purvez is a highly qualified and experienced interventional pain physician who trained in Head & Neck Surgery in India, in Anesthesiology at Boston University, and in Pain Medicine at the University of Virginia. Dr. Purvez is certified by the American Board of Pain Medicine, the American Board of Anesthesiology in Pain Medicine, and the American Board of Disability Analysts. He has been in pain practice since 2002. He has been a Clinical Adjunct Professor at Lincoln Memorial University. He has been a member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP), Spine Intervention Society (SIS), American Medical Association (AMA), and American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (ASRA). He has authored numerous articles and a book chapter on pain in the American College of Physicians (ACP) Manual of Critical Care. He also wrote a chapter on pain management in the book titled 'Care of the Older African Adult' He sits on the advisory board of 'The Journal of Integrative Medicine and Public health'. His new book 'The Brain Behind Pain' deals with the mind-body connection and various aspects of perception, processing, and other connected aspects of pain. His last book ' Managing Chronic Pain in An Age of Addiction' also published by Rowman and Littlefield has been very well received by professionals, policy planners, advocates, and the public. Both are widely available. He has almost two decades of experience as an expert witness and independent medical evaluator in Interventional pain management, work-related injuries, motor vehicle accident cases, and professional conduct issues.
