Dr. Raina Paul is a board certified pediatric and pediatric emergency medicine physician. She completed her residency and fellowship in Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School, the number one children's hospital in the country for over a decade. She is currently the Director of Quality Improvement for the Advocate Children’s Hospital Emergency Departments and was the former Associate Medical Director at the Center for Excellence at Lurie Children’s/Northwestern hospital. She has authored several peer reviewed articles on pediatric sepsis and was an author on the most recent Pediatric American College of Critical Care Medicine and Surviving Sepsis Guidelines. She has been involved for over a decade in QI related research, especially surrounding pediatric sepsis. She led the Boston team as part of the rapid cycle Children’s Hospital Association (CHA) collaborative, was a steering committee member and data lead for the 25 hospital AAP Pediatric Septic Shock Collaborative (PSSC) and is currently a co-chair for the CHA sponsored Improving Pediatric Sepsis Outcomes (IPSO) collaborative. She has received QI training through the Advanced Training Program at Intermountain Health in Utah and through the Advanced Improvement Methods course at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. She was the immediate past Chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics' Section on Emergency Medicine Committee on Quality Improvement. She also currently serves as the AAP lead on the QI advisory board for the NIH funded National Pediatric Readiness Project. In this capacity she will ensure widespread adoption of best practices across general EDs and facilitate improvement through QI data driven metrics and analysis.
