Dr. Jacobs is board certified in Pain Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Occupational Medicine. He served over 20 years as a Navy physician, including roles as director of Pain Medicine at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and specialty consultant to the Navy Surgeon General and White House. He now practices as an Interventional Pain Medicine physician for and is an associate professor of anesthesiology at Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Jacobs serves on the guidelines committee of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine and is a fellow in the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Jacobs has an active clinical practice, including the management of complex chronic pain conditions, such as failed back surgery syndrome (post-laminectomy syndrome), complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), post-surgical pain (e.g hernia, joint replacement, nerve injury), and chronic joint, neck, and back pain. He performs advanced interventional pain procedures as part of a multidisciplinary approach to care, including use of opioid medications when clinically indicated. Licensed in MD, VA, DC, and PA.
