I have worked in a variety of pediatric emergency departments in the Northeast and Southeast United States over the past 7 years, from small community hospitals to major academic centers. I completed a residency in general pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY in 2012, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine / Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, graduating in 2015. During my training I did moonlighting shifts in a small community emergency room in the Bronx (North Central Bronx Hospital) and one on the upper west side of Manhattan (St. Luke's Roosevelt). After 6 years of training in large inner city trauma centers I started my first post training job as the medical director of a small pediatric emergency department within a larger health system (Ochsner) in New Orleans, Louisiana. In addition to clinical work, my administrative responsibilities included safety and quality improvement, review of all deaths and adverse outcomes in the pediatric emergency department, and management of patient complaints. I currently work at Children's Hospital of New Orleans, a large pediatric tertiary care and trauma center. My current area of focus is patient safety and quality, I serve as clinical lead for patient safety, quality and experience. Duties include reviewing all return visits to the ED within 48 hours, all patient resuscitations, intubations, and deaths, and reviewing all patient complaints and grievances. Additionally I have had multiple media experiences (radio and television) and am comfortable with public speaking. I have served as an expert witness (testifying via zoom) on one previous trial involving medical treatment of juvenile offenders during the COVID pandemic.
