Description
I provide expert witness case analysis and testimony in cancer and blood disorder in children, adolescents and young adults. I have 27 years of experience as expert witness in medical liability cases for plaintiff and defense cases. The cases I am most interested and have experience on concern the diagnosis and management of bleeding disorder and hematological malignancies that may lead to intracranial bleeding as the cause of long-term morbidity or unexpected mortality. Also, intracranial bleeding in infants and children suspected to be victims of maltreatment. I am also interested on cases of failure to follow established clinical guidelines, adverse drug side effects, failure to follow chemotherapy guidelines, informed consent, and analysis of medical errors on patient quality of life. My interest in adolescents and young adult oncology medical liability cases started in San Antonio, Texas where I moved in 1992, I developed the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology program at the Methodist Children’s Hospital and the Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology program at the Methodist Hospital and the Methodist Children’s Hospital, until I retired from active clinical practice on December 31, 2017. After retirement, I keep up to date on literature relevant to my specialty and continue to advise colleagues in the management of difficult cases. I also served in the American Association of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology (ASPHO) Practice Committee from 2019 to 2022. I will be happy to provide references upon request.
