David Mefford is an experienced Contractor and Remediation Expert. As such, he is highly qualified as a Consultant and Expert Witness in nearly every aspect of Construction, including; Construction Defects, Defective Building Envelopes, Water Intrusion, Sewage Backups, Mold Remediation, as well as Flood and Fire Restoration. EXPERIENCE: His first job was as a carpenter's apprentice the summer of 1965. Since then, he has built, repaired or remodeled over 3,000 residential and commercial buildings. Over 2,500 of those projects have occurred since 1999 when MR. Mefford moved into the Flood and Fire Restoration Industry. He fixed Construction Defects, Water Damage, Fire, Smoke, and Mold, including the supervision, remediation, and repair of most projects. CONSULTATION AND EXPERT WITNESS: In 2004, Mr. Mefford expanded into Consultation and Expert Witness work for clients who found themselves in litigation. Since then he has worked on 49 cases, providing reports, depositions, and trial testimony. Most of his cases settle with happy clients, once his reports are delivered. CERTIFICATION AND TRAINING: Mr Mefford has earned his Certified Restorer Certification from the Restoration Industry Association (RIA), has been a B-100 General Contractor in Utah for nearly 20 years, and is a Certified Mold Professional from Interactive Occupational Training (IOT) which is identical to the certification from the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). Mr Mefford has also completed training as a Structural Drying Expert from the American Drying Institute, Certified Contents Restorer (RIA), and Lead-Based Paint Safety Renovation, Repair and Painting from the State of Utah through the Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational & Environmental Health. Mr Mefford is also proficient in the Xactimate Estimating Program, having used it for 20 years, as well as teaching seminars on effective estimating techniques.
