Description
I am a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at California State University in Sacramento with over 39 years of experience. As a Professional Registered Mechanical Engineer (PE License, CA), I specialize in accident reconstruction using computer simulations of accidents involving vehicles, trucks, heavy vehicles, motorcycles, biomechanics, pedestrians, bicycles, occupational and workplace accidents, and failure analysis of impact forces and industrial accidents. My expertise also includes EDR (Event Data Recorder) analysis including TESLA vehicles and patents. I have extensive experience as an expert witness, providing written reports, depositions, and trial testimony. My specialized training includes Vehicle Dynamics and Design, Vehicle Safety & Crash Reconstruction, Accident Biomechanics, Finite Element Modeling in Computer-Aided Design, Advanced Mechanical Design and Failure Analysis (CSUS), Motorcycle Accident reconstruction (Northwestern University), EDR Certification, Tech 1, Tech II, EDR Analysis Certification (Collision Safety Institute), Applying Automotive EDR Data to Traffic Crash Reconstruction (SAE Society of Automotive Engineers International), Expert witness training (SEAK Inc.), Advanced Accident Reconstruction Utilizing Human Factors course (Northwestern University), and Photogrammetry for Collision Reconstruction (Lightpoint Data). I have received numerous honors and awards, including the Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award from the University of California, Davis, and the Outstanding Research Award from California State University. I am a NASA Faculty Fellow and Chairman of the Technical Committee on Bond Graph Modeling & Simulation at SCS Society for Modeling and Simulation International. I am also the Chairman of the ICBGM’2021 International Conference on Bond Graph Modeling & Simulation and have been an International Keynote Speaker in Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, Colombia, Ecuador, and Mexico. As an editor of 14 books and author of 70 technical research papers, my research and teaching areas include Computer Modeling & Simulation, Vehicle Dynamics & Design, Accident Biomechanics, System Dynamics & Controls, Finite Element Modeling, Multi-Body Dynamics, Failure Analysis, Vibrations, and Systems Engineering. I am proficient in various software, including Virtual Crash, HVE, PC Crash, Input Ace, IDRR, Working Model 2D, SOLIDWORKS, CDR Software, MATLAB, SIMULINK, and CAMPG.
