Description
I am a licensed physician and a Diplomat of THE AMERICAN BOARD OF THORACIC SURGERY. My cardiac surgical experience spans over 40 years and encompasses the broad spectrum of Adult Cardiac Surgery & Perioperative Critical Care. My residency in General Surgery was completed at the Univ. of Kansas, K.C., KS, followed by a residency in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Children's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA. Under the mentor-ship of Dr. Denton A. Cooley, I was taught complex cardiac surgical procedures, including transplantation and aortic surgery. Although the majority of my experience in clinical cardiac surgery occurred in private practice, I also served for several years as a faculty member of the University of South Florida. I was involved in laboratory as well as clinical research dealing with shock and published on the metabolism and pathophysiology of septic shock.
